At Limelight Rainforest, local empowerment is at the heart of everything we do. We work in deep partnership with the communities who know these ecosystems best, recognizing their lived knowledge as essential to meaningful biodiversity protection. By integrating field-based science with Indigenous and local expertise, we co-create tools, insights, and solutions that serve both people and the planet. Just as important, we focus on teaching and training—equipping local people with the technology and skills they need to support themselves, lead monitoring efforts, and build lasting conservation economies.
Founded in 2024 as part of the Limelight Rainforest XPRIZE-winning team, Selvatek is a local enterprise led by people from Amazonian habitats who have dedicated their lives to building sustainable ways of living rooted in rainforest protection and biodiversity. Centered on equity, mentorship, and long-term collaboration, Selvatek ensures that those who care for the forest are also leading its future.

What We Do
Selvatek combines Indigenous ecological knowledge with cutting-edge technology to monitor and protect the planet’s most biodiverse ecosystems. By making ecological complexity visible, our work empowers smarter decisions for conservation, sustainability, and long-term stewardship.
We build entrepreneurial capacity among Indigenous Peoples and local communities, supporting education in governance, economics, and the value of natural systems. Through financial and advisory support for university and technology-based training, we help develop local expertise and leadership.
Using advanced technology, participatory methods, and community partnerships, we collaborate with Indigenous communities, local populations, and young people across the Amazon. Through our Synergies for Diversity (SPD) model, we connect everyone who impacts or depends on megabiodiverse habitats, including farmers, researchers, companies, NGOs, activists, and governments, to build a shared vision for a thriving planet.
